Footballer and former Love Island contestant Reuben Collins is renowned for his gorgeous, long and healthy hair. We catch up with him to learn more about his hair routine, grooming tips, and favourite Afrocenchix buys.
Reuben’s grooming routine…
My current daily ritual includes spraying my braids with Afrocenchix Natural Hydrating Spray, and wearing my durag to cover my hair while I sleep. In terms of skincare, I exfoliate my face with salicylic acid cleanser, and then make sure to apply cocoa butter and SPF to protect my skin.
Scalp and wash day routine…

Pressure to look perfect on Love Island…
I 100% felt that I had to look my best at all times on Love Island. I was aware that I was being broadcast in front of the nation while being surrounded by some of the best-looking people in the country. From that perspective, there was no option to have a day off.
Staying grounded after Love Island…
It is a very unique situation, coming off the show. I’m quite mentally strong and I don’t take myself too seriously. I know who I am, where I come from, and what I’m about. So, all things considered, it wasn’t a problem going back to work and football for me.
Also, I have consciously surrounded myself with people throughout my life who will keep me in check and tell me harsh truths. As soon as I came off the show, all my family and friends were the first ones to humble me and keep me grounded.
What self-care looks like…
Self-care is very important to me. I always ensure that I am eating well and work out regularly throughout the day – exercising and stretching to make sure my body is strong yet flexible. The most important thing is the mind. I prioritise taking time out of the day to do what I need to reset, whether that’s sleeping, playing video games, football or socialising with my friends or family. My schedule can really get hectic, so I try to make time for my brain to relax.
